Dealers Make Official the Donation of New Vehicle to
Poway Schools at Abraxas High School
POWAY,
CA.- Poway Road of Cars dealers are formally completing the
donation of a new 2008 wrapped van to the Poway Unified School
District on Friday, May 30, 2008 as part of a three year plan
to supply transportation and funding.
The Poway Road of Cars dealers raised funds over the past 12
months to purchase the vehicle to help the community in their
need for local transportation for high school students. The
Poway School District Foundation approached the dealers in 2007
with a need for transportation, and the dealers together have
answered the call with a brand new 2008 Chevy Express Van.
"This idea has been embraced by all of the new car dealers
in Poway, who comprise the Poway Road of Cars,” says Mark
Abelkop, owner, Poway Hyundai/Mitsubishi. “We look forward
to seeing the students riding in the van to their jobs in Poway,
he said.
The van will be delivered at a special public ceremony to be
held on Friday May 30, 2008, at Abraxas High School at 8:15am.
Superintendent Don Phillips, students, administrators and teachers
of the Poway Unified School District will be on site to accept
the official registration, license plates and keys for the van
at this ceremony. The van artwork design was created in part,
by Poway High School Student, Andre Pepin.
In addition to the vehicle, the Dealers have agreed to donate
a portion of each vehicle sale to the school district. A form
for this donation can be downloaded at:

“Working together to promote the ‘Vehicle Purchase
Program’ will make a difference in the quality of education
for over 33,000 students each year. We appreciate the dealers
continued support of the Poway Unified School District,”
said Irene Frank, Executive Director, Poway Unified School District
Foundation.
